Key idea & worked example
Release milestones offer fixed points in a continuing research programme.
Start with the overview, follow the visual examples, then inspect the technical details and sources. On this page
26 September 2026 · Research notebooks expanded
The expanded website edition develops the introductions into practical research guides, adds a glossary and separate Processor and VAO-client guides, and gives every ecosystem entry a clearer account of its role in a workflow. The default presentation uses a brighter Sumi paper tone. Earlier editions remain accessible through their fixed citation URLs.
23 September 2026 · OMARO
OMARO 0.1.0 became available on Zenodo on 23 September; its original GitHub release and the record’s publication date are 11 September. The reference dataset and public browser support multilingual instrument lookup and attributed classification. Its version remains distinct from the datasets and applications that use it.
11 September 2026 · Dissertation submitted
Musikinstrumente im virtuellen Raum was submitted at Leipzig University. The work connects organological sources, digital representations and interactive access. Submission is a documented research milestone; it is not presented here as a degree-award date.
11 September 2026 · OrgRec 0.3.2
The archived application release provides a reference point for the recording and analysis workflow described in the fieldwork notebook. Its software version is independent of the POD and VAO versions it uses. That distinction matters when comparing an exported package, a local recording project and a later application build.
9 September 2026 · Pipe Organ Dataset 1.6.0
POD 1.6.0 supplies a fixed public corpus for attributed organological research. Its release documentation identifies distributions, methods and limitations. The public release remains distinct from earlier source and semantic-export states, and from the separately archived restricted reviewer package for POD 1.5.0.
9 September 2026 · Reference object packages
The Cuntz, Silbermann and Welte deposits supply fixed instrument-package releases. They make the reference objects citable separately from the exchange standard. Their package version labels should be read in that role, rather than as evidenceEvidenceMaterial offered as grounds for a claim. Its relevance depends on the claim, context, transmission and interpretation.Work through the Cuntz example → that every application supporting a similarly numbered standard can execute every declared capability.
31 August 2026 · VAO 0.5.0
The final specification introduces cross-carrierCarrierA package or workspace that contains a manifest, carrier mapping and selected realizations. Bootstrap, preservation-closure and custom carriers serve different delivery purposes.Work through the Cuntz example → delivery. A small bootstrap carrier can identify exact resources in a complete preservation carrier within the same immutable semantic releaseSemantic releaseA fixed VAO manifest and the exact realizations it identifies. Different carriers can transport selections from the same release.Work through the Cuntz example →. The resulting separation of content identity and delivery arrangement supports selective acquisition without redefining the object.
27 August 2026 · Ontology Network 0.1.0
The modular semantic model establishes a versioned foundation for instruments, their states, representations and the evidence connecting them. It provides the conceptual distinctions that remain important when data is projected into a convenient interface or carried in a VAO package.
Read milestones as different kinds of change
A specification release changes a contract; a dataset release fixes a corpus state; an application release fixes an implementation; a notebook edition fixes an explanation. Keeping these milestones separate helps readers trace a result without inventing a single version number for the entire project.
