People & contact

A conversation can begin with an instrument, a source, a technical question or a possible collaboration.

Key idea & worked example

A conversation can begin with an instrument, a source, a technical question or a possible collaboration.

Start with the overview, follow the visual examples, then inspect the technical details and sources.

Dominik Ukolov

Researcher working across organologyOrganologyThe study of musical instruments, including their construction, histories, use and relationships. MODAVIS brings documentary, material and digital evidence into that inquiry.Work through the Cuntz example → and digital humanities. The published project resources identify Dominik Ukolov as their author or responsible editor.

For a useful technical enquiry

Include the resource name, its version and the page or record you are referring to. For a reproducible problem, describe the expected and observed behavior and the smallest example that demonstrates it.

Research context

MODAVIS grew from doctoral work at Leipzig University and connects instrument research with digital humanities. The University of Jena directory lists Dominik Ukolov with Digital Humanities (Image/Object); the ORCID record provides a persistent researcher identity. Use those institutional and publication records for current affiliations and bibliographic details.

Make the first message useful

An instrument or collectionObject identifiers, the question being investigated and the relevant documentation.
A data correctionDataset version, record identity, disputed statement and supporting source.
An implementation problemTool and standard versions, minimal input, expected result and observed behaviour.
A demonstration or collaborationAudience, intended research or teaching outcome, format and practical constraints.

A correction is easiest to evaluate when it identifies both the statement and the evidenceEvidenceMaterial offered as grounds for a claim. Its relevance depends on the claim, context, transmission and interpretation.Work through the Cuntz example → for an alternative. A screenshot can show an interface problem, but a stable record or release identifier helps locate the underlying material. If the issue concerns uncertain interpretation, describe the competing readings rather than reducing the report to a proposed replacement value.

Choose material that can be shared

For an initial technical enquiry, a small reproducible example is usually more useful than a large project archive. Identify any access restrictions affecting source material, recordings or personal information, and agree an appropriate route before sending restricted files. The contact link opens your own mail application; this site does not upload files or submit a support ticket.
